The goal of our Pre-K classroom is to promote the healthy growth of each child as a preschooler, and begin to prepare for kindergarten. We use daily activities for individual growth, as well as quality group experiences that are aligned with our project-based curriculum. This affords the children a fun, exciting play-based learning environment that is developmentally appropriate.

Safety and Security

We work tirelessly to ensure that your child is safe while in our care. Our front door requires a code in order to enter, so we know that anyone entering our building is authorized. We strive to meet and exceed state sanitation standards by cleaning and disinfecting all areas of the classroom throughout the day, including the toys that the three-year-olds play with, the cots that they sleep on, and all other areas of the classroom.

All of our teachers are certified in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid. They have also undergone state-mandated background checks .

Curriculum and Milestones

Our Pre-K classroom utilizes the Creative Curriculum, 5th ed., which teaches children academic and social skills using a project-based approach. Each project offers the class an opportunity to explore an interesting topic in-depth for a period of about one month, while also using play-based activities to teach children.

The curriculum is aligned with Teaching Strategies GOLD Assessments, which is one of the most inclusive, extensive developmental assessment systems available. It focuses on development in key areas:

  • Social and Emotional Development – Children develop an understanding of how their actions affect those around them. Children also learn how to engage in positive interactions with those around them using conflict resolution skills.
  • Physical Development – Children practice control and coordination through activities that focus on running, climbing, throwing, and kicking. They also develop fine motor skills through creative activities such as play dough, painting, using scissors, and writing letters, numbers, and words.
  • Language – Children gain an increase in vocabulary from project-based discussions during large group activities.
  • Cognitive – Children learn problem solving, flexibility in thinking, and classification skills during playful small group activities. They also explore the boundaries between real-life and pretend-play when acting out scenarios during free choice time.
  • Literacy – Children participate during project-based story times and become authors and illustrators by creating books based on the knowledge they have gained from their project explorations.
  • Math – Children begin to match numerals and their quantities, as well as working to identify 2-D and 3-D shapes, make comparisons between objects, and copy repeating patterns.

Field Trips

Our Pre-K class participates in several field trips throughout the year that are aligned with the projects that the class investigates. This helps your child prepare for kindergarten by making them aware of bus rules. It also enriches the children’s project-learning by extending the learning outside of the classroom.

Outside Time

Your child will have ample opportunities to play on an outdoor playground designed specifically for their development, with materials for climbing, swinging, running, jumping, and throwing. We schedule outdoor time twice a day when the weather permits.


Our Pre-K classroom participates in KinderSpanish, a program that comes once a week and teaches children Spanish and sign language through the use of songs, finger plays, and games. Click here for more information about their program.

Soccer Shots

Soccer Shots is an add-on program that teaches basic soccer skills and character development through a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
